Welcome to Loxley Elementary
Loxley Elementary School is a Pre-K through sixth-grade school where children are known, valued, challenged, and encouraged to become the very best versions of themselves. We are proud to serve the families of Loxley and the surrounding community as part of Baldwin County Public Schools.
At Loxley Elementary, we believe school should be more than a place children attend each day. It should be a place where they feel safe, supported, and inspired—a place where they discover their strengths, develop their voices, and learn that they are capable of doing incredible things.
Our students are Loxley Cubs, and our school family is built upon high expectations, meaningful relationships, student leadership, and a shared commitment to growth.

A New Campus and a New Chapter
The 2026–2027 school year marks an exciting new chapter in the history of Loxley Elementary as we begin learning together on our new campus.
Our new school was designed to support a growing community and provide students with welcoming classrooms, collaborative learning areas, updated instructional spaces, and room to learn, lead, and grow. While the building is new, the heart of Loxley Elementary remains the same: our students, families, faculty, staff, and community.
This move represents much more than a change of location. It is the beginning of our next great adventure. After years of accepting challenges, embracing the climb, and reaching new summits, we are ready to look beyond the mountain and toward all that lies ahead.

Our house system gives every student and staff member a place to belong within the larger Loxley family. Each house has its own color, animal symbol, identity, and leadership focus, but all four are united by one mission.
Represented by the eagle and the color royal blue, Pathfinders look ahead with purpose. They learn to take responsibility for their choices, set meaningful goals, and create a clear path toward success.

Represented by the wolf and the color cardinal red, Waykeepers understand the strength of the pack. They focus on priorities, care for themselves and others, and help keep our school community moving in a positive direction.
Leadership Habits: Put First Things First and Sharpen the Saw
Represented by the lion and the color sunburst yellow, Lightseekers lead with courage and compassion. They listen to understand, look for solutions in which everyone can succeed, and use their light to lift others.
Leadership Habits: Think Win-Win and Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Represented by the stallion and the color kelly green, Crestbearers recognize that we accomplish more when we work together. They value every person’s strengths, find their voices, and encourage others to use theirs.

Throughout the year, houses come together for leadership opportunities, service, celebrations, friendly competitions, and schoolwide events. Students build relationships across grade levels and learn that leadership is not determined by age or title. Leadership begins with the choices we make each day.

Learning, Leadership, and Academic Growth
At Loxley Elementary, academic success and personal growth go hand in hand. Our teachers work collaboratively to study student needs, strengthen instruction, and provide support or enrichment so every child can continue moving forward.
This commitment is reflected in our school’s academic progress. Loxley Elementary’s Alabama State Report Card score has grown from an 82 to an 88. This improvement represents the collective work of our students, teachers, staff members, families, and community. Behind every point are children who persevered, educators who strengthened their practice, and families who supported learning at home.
Although we are proud of this growth, we know our work is never finished. We will continue setting high expectations, responding to individual student needs, and helping every child make meaningful academic progress.
Professional learning has been a cornerstone of Loxley Elementary’s improvement. Our faculty and staff are committed to growing alongside our students, and our work with Kagan Cooperative Learning, PLCs at Work, Leader in Me, and the Ron Clark Academy has provided a strong foundation for our academic growth and school culture.
Through Kagan Cooperative Learning, teachers use intentional structures that increase student engagement, participation, communication, and collaboration. These strategies give every child a voice in the classroom and help students learn with and from one another.
Our work with PLCs at Work has strengthened the way teachers collaborate around student learning. Grade-level teams identify what students need to know, use evidence of learning to monitor progress, and work together to provide additional support or enrichment. This shared responsibility helps ensure that every student receives what they need to grow.
Leader in Me provides the foundation for our student leadership culture. Through the 8 Habits, students learn responsibility, goal setting, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and the importance of finding and using their voices. These habits are also woven throughout our four-house system.
Professional development through the Ron Clark Academy has inspired our faculty and staff to create engaging learning experiences, build strong relationships, celebrate students, and develop a school culture filled with energy, belonging, high expectations, and joy.
Together, these professional learning experiences have shaped how we teach, collaborate, lead, and support children. They have helped us create a school where academic excellence, student engagement, leadership, and positive relationships work together.
Students also experience learning through hands-on exploration, educational field trips, the arts, leadership opportunities, and connections to the world around them. From becoming young scientists and exploring the ecosystems of Mobile Bay to working together to solve meaningful problems, our Cubs are encouraged to remain curious and see learning as an adventure.
Ms. Gina McClure has served as principal of Loxley Elementary School since February 2023.
Ms. McClure believes all students deserve to be challenged to grow and reach their fullest potential in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that student success begins with strong relationships among students, families, educators, and the community.
Since February 2023, Loxley Elementary has experienced meaningful academic growth, including an increase in its Alabama State Report Card score from 82 to 88. Under Ms. McClure’s leadership, the school has strengthened professional learning and teacher collaboration, increased its focus on student learning and progress, expanded opportunities for student leadership, established the four-house system, and prepared for the historic move to a new campus.
Ms. McClure often reminds students and staff that adventures are some of the best ways to learn. Challenges help us grow, the climb teaches us important lessons, and reaching one summit allows us to see new possibilities waiting on the horizon.
She considers it a privilege to serve the students, families, faculty, staff, and community of Loxley Elementary and is proud of what the school family has accomplished together.
Our differences make our school stronger. We strive to create an environment where every student feels welcomed, included, and valued. Children are encouraged to recognize their own gifts while learning to appreciate the strengths and perspectives of others.
We believe all students can grow. Success may look different for each child, but every step forward deserves to be recognized and celebrated.
At Loxley Elementary, students are not simply preparing to become leaders someday. They are given opportunities to lead now—inside their classrooms, within their houses, throughout the school, and in service to others.
Loxley Elementary is fortunate to be part of a community that cares deeply about its children. Our families, volunteers, local businesses, churches, civic organizations, and community partners contribute their time, talents, encouragement, and resources to our school.
One of the most meaningful examples of this partnership is the Baldwin County Strawberry Festival, which serves as Loxley Elementary’s primary annual fundraiser. Each year, school families, faculty, staff, and community volunteers work together to support the festival. The funds raised directly benefit our students and help provide educational resources, programs, experiences, and opportunities beyond what traditional school funding can provide.
The Strawberry Festival is more than a fundraiser. It is a treasured community tradition and a wonderful example of what can happen when a community comes together for its children.
We believe strong partnerships between home, school, and community create the foundation children need to thrive. Families are valued members of our team, and we welcome their involvement in the life of our school.
At Loxley Elementary, we will challenge students to grow while surrounding them with the encouragement and support they need to succeed. We will celebrate their progress, help them learn from setbacks, and remind them that their potential extends far beyond what they can currently see.
